The APEX Program

A 10-month elite basketball and academic experience. Full immersion. No compromises.

The APEX program is designed for ambitious student-athletes who want professional-level basketball development without sacrificing academic excellence or long-term opportunity. Every aspect of the experience is intentionally structured to maximize growth physically, mentally, academically, and personally, across a full 10-month season inside Barcelona's elite basketball environment.

On the Court

The Basketball Program

Our methodology combines technical development, tactical intelligence, physical preparation, and elite competition exposure within one integrated performance system. Every player receives individualized attention inside a highly competitive team environment, coached by experienced professionals using the same methodology applied at elite European club level.

Individual Technical Development

Every athlete follows a personalized development plan focused on position-specific improvement, movement efficiency, and basketball IQ. Sessions are filmed and reviewed with coaches through structured video analysis.

  • Shooting mechanics and shot creation
  • Ball handling and dribble penetration
  • Footwork and movement patterns
  • Finishing at the rim
  • Decision-making and basketball IQ
  • Pick-and-roll reads and execution
  • Defensive positioning and principles
  • Game film review and individual analysis

Team Training & Competition

Players train collectively using elite European methodology, the same tactical principles applied by professional clubs across Spain and the EuroLeague. Teams compete weekly in official Spanish federation leagues across Catalonia and Spain.

  • Spacing and floor balance
  • Transition offense and defense
  • Tactical discipline and system execution
  • Pace, tempo, and game management
  • Decision-making under pressure
  • Collective defensive schemes

Physical & Mental Performance

Elite performance requires more than technical skill. APEX integrates a complete physical and mental performance program alongside basketball training, so athletes learn to prepare, recover, compete, and perform consistently.

  • Strength and conditioning
  • Mobility and movement quality
  • Recovery protocols and sleep education
  • Physiotherapy and injury prevention
  • Sports nutrition and body composition
  • Mental performance coaching
  • Competition preparation and focus training

Common Questions

Program & Staff FAQ

How many hours of training per week does an APEX athlete complete?

Approximately 20–25 hours of structured basketball work per week, split across morning individual technical sessions, evening team training, and weekly competitive games in the Spanish federation leagues. Strength & conditioning, video review, and recovery are programmed on top of that.

How is academic time protected during competition?

Academic blocks at Agora Barcelona are scheduled around training. On travel weeks, players are given structured remote study plans and tutor check-ins so the IB Diploma path is never compromised by the competition calendar.

What is the coach-to-player ratio at APEX?

Small by design. Across the basketball, S&C, sports medicine, and academic mentorship teams, every athlete has 4+ professionals working directly with them every week.

How are APEX coaches selected?

Coaches are recruited from elite European club academies and national federations, vetted for player development methodology (not just résumé), and required to commit to the residential rhythm of the academy. They are on-site, not visiting.

Do coaches travel with the team to competitions?

Yes. Coaching staff, an athletic trainer, and academic tutors travel with the squad to every Spanish federation league fixture, so training, recovery, and academics continue uninterrupted on the road.

Are summer programs separate from the 10-month residential year?

Yes. A separate 3–6 week summer intensive program is available for players who want to experience APEX before committing to the full residential year. The 10-month program runs September to June.
